How is constipation related to IBS?

Constipation is a manifested symptom of IBS. Most of the people experience persistent diarrhea than constipation. However, about 2 million of the physicians with IBS patients affirmed that either alternating constipation or constant constipation is the major complaint of people suffering from IBS.
