How do I know if I have IBS?
Answered By Ilene Trevore, Editor
The muscles in the bowel of a person contract few times per day. This is the reason for bowel movement. But if you have IBS the muscles are robustly sensitive to triggers or stimuli that may attack into it. Therefore, if you will eat food then your bowel muscles provoke a strong response. This often leads to diarrhea and constipation. Experiencing said symptoms will help you determine whether you have IBS or don't.
